How to Use the Stock Firmware?

Stock firmware can be only be used to unroot the Galaxy Note 5 (SM-N920I) if the device has been rooted and no longer receives any Software update that has officially released by Samsung itself. It can also be used to restore the Galaxy Note 5 (SM-N920I) from any modified, unofficial firmware builds and return it back to the official or stock firmware.  Stock firmware can also fix the device if it suffered from soft-bricks such as boot loop, stuck at Samsung logo if one have just messed up from any modification attempt such as rooting, installing custom recoveries and any custom firmware build.

Important Note:

This stock firmware can only be used on  New Zealand, Fiji and Papua New Guinea Galaxy Note 5 with specific model number SM-N920I. What you’ll need to do before using the Stock firmware?

Prepare the following necessary things to keep the device as safe as possible before proceeding.
  • Recharge the device before flashing the stock firmware.
  • Ensure to back up all important data stored in the device memory, to avoid data loss  if something might go wrong during the firmware flashing process.
  • Turn ON the USB debugging mode in Settings > Developer option > USB debugging.
  • Turn ON the OEM unlocking in Settings > Developer option > OEM Unlocking. This can only be found if its already enabled on your device but some other Galaxy Note 5 models doesn’t have this option.
  • Ensure that you installed the USB driver.

How to Flash a Stock Firmware?

  1. Open Odin3_v3.10 on your computer.
  2. Reboot your Galaxy Note 5 into download mode by pressing the Volume down, Home and Power/Lock buttons at the same time. Then press Volume up to continue.
  3. Connect your Galaxy Note 5 to the computer using the USB data cable.
  4. Load the stock firmware under Odin’s AP button. Click the AP button then select the firmware file.
  5. Wait a couple of minutes as Odin will check the consistency of the file.
  6. Click the “START” button to begin flashing.
  7. Wait until the flashing completes. You will see a word PASS! when it’s done.
  8. Allow the device to reboot, it may take a longer period of time to initialize and depend on each firmware build.
