AT&T Galaxy Note 5 Updates to N920AUCS4CPL1, No Nougat Yet, It's December Security Patches

AT&T has just released an OTA update on Galaxy Note 5 (SM-N920A), bumping the Android OS version to N920AUCS4CPL1 previous build N920AUCS4CPK1.
The update is still in recent Android Marshmallow OS and not the much awaited Android Nougat updates. It is the same update the device has been receiving from the past couple of months to which brings out the monthly Android security patches. So this time around this labeled update version N920AUCS4CPL1 will move the Android security patch level to December 1, 2016.

Here are the technical details:

What's new: December Android Security Updates
  • Android version: 6.0.1
  • Android security patch level: December 1, 2016
  • Baseband version: N920AUCS4CPL1
  • Kernel version: 3.10.61-8961126
  • Build number: MMB29K.N920AUCS4CPL1

Previous version:
  • Android version: 6.0.1
  • Android security patch level:  November 1, 2016
  • Baseband version: N920AUCS4CPK1
  • Kernel version: 3.10.61-8961126
  • Build number: MMB29K.N920AUCS4CPK1

In addition, the update file size just  weights at 17.4MB, it is way too small if ever we might expect that it has something more along with it. There could be none, but only applies the new security patches. The roll out starts on January 16,  2016 and the deployments  will run for at-least around 10 to 15 days.

How to Update the Galaxy Note 5 via Over-The-Air OTA?

  1. From the device Home screen, simply tap Apps.
  2. Tap the Settings (gear icon).
  3. Tap the System tab.
  4. Tap About device.
  5. Tap Software update.
  6. Tap Check for updates.
  7. Tap the Install button, then OK.
  8. Wait until the phone completely reboot before touching it. It may reboot (turn on and off) multiple times as the update might still at its finalization stage.

However, if somehow the update isn’t available yet, you should also consider that the released usually take in stages and may also take into several days before it arrive in some areas. So you may have to wait and keep on checking until you’ll see the update.
