The Over The Air (OTA) update requires you to connect your Galaxy Note 5 to a WiFi network to ease you on high data charges.

Make sure to recharge your phone. A power failure may interrupt the updating progress. If necessary, you may also create a backup copy of all of your important files stored in the phone’s memory, so that if something might went wrong during the update process your files is in safe place already.  You may also need to perform a factory reset if you want a cleaner and a much fresher firmware installation. This process  will help out to get rid of  some lag issues once the new update has made.
  • From the device Home screen, simply tap Apps.
  • Tap the Settings (gear icon).
  • Tap the System tab.
  • Tap About device.
  • Tap Software update.
  • Tap Check for updates.
  • Tap the Install button, then OK.

Wait until the phone completely reboot before touching it. It may reboot (turn on and off) multiple times as the update might still at its finalization stage. If the update is available, it will prompt you the update’s technical details including on how to download and install it. If somehow the update isn’t available yet, you may have to wait and keep on checking later on until you get the update.
